The client brief

The owners wanted a larger kitchen and dining space that opened directly onto the garden. They also wanted the rooms updated without losing the character and proportions of the house or their period details.

Design approach

We added a brick extension with large garden openings and rooflights, then connected it to the existing rooms through a restrained palette of timber, stone and limewashed walls throughout the wider ground floor.
